| Welcome to the Washington Area Women's Soccer League (WAWSL). This league strives to develop and strengthen women's soccer in the DC area through league and tournament play. We offer recreational and competitive outdoor soccer and welcome all levels of players, from beginner through premier. Our fields are primarily in DC and Montgomery County with occasional games in Arlington. Our players live throughout DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. WAWSL is a section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and is self-administered by a volunteer board of directors. We are affiliated regionally with the Metropolitan DC-Virginia Soccer Association (MDCVSA) and nationally with the United States Soccer Federation (USSF). | | |

WAWSL and CCSL are co-sponsoring a New Referee Certification class beginning September 21. WAWSL ecourages any/all players interested in officiating to sign up, but this is especially important for those teams who may not yet have a certified referee on their roster for the Fall 2010 Season.

posted 04/17/2010 In the event of inclement weather, please call the WAWSL hotline at 703-827-7907. Cancellation information will be available on the outgoing message starting at 7am.**
NOTE: The hotline is ONLY updated by date and games status in the event of inclement or threatening weather. If you call after 7am and hear the standard "WAWSL Information" greeting, then games are on as scheduled.
Do not assume games are cancelled if there has been rain or if it is currently raining. Game cancellations will occasionally be determined on a field-by-field basis, depending on field location and type of surface. Turf games will not be cancelled for light to moderate rain when lightning is not present.
Our goal is to play as many games as possible without damaging the fields or jeopardizing our permits. We often have to rely on park services and/or school staff to notify us when they are cancelling use of their fields, and they may not contact us until after 7am. Whenever possible, we will provide timely notification of cancellations. Occasionally, last-minute changes to the schedule may not be avoidable. The hotline will be updated as soon as humanly possible in every instance. For this reason, always call the hotline prior to leaving for your game if you think weather may be an issue.
